Baseball Recap: Chisum Victorious

Chisum proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Prairiland Patriots 1-0. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Prairiland's batters probably weren't too happy with Drake Howard, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up a single walk). Howard also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chisum is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Chisum's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kason Vickers, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Chisum is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Prairiland, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-4.

Chisum will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
