Softball Recap: Manitowoc Lincoln Comes Up Short

Manitowoc Lincoln extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-11 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Green Bay Preble Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 back in April.

As for Green Bay Preble, they pushed their record up to 18-0 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Green Bay Preble's part, Tenley Kuehn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Kuehn has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two triples. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Day, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Hannah VonHaden was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manitowoc Lincoln will square off against Ashwaubenon at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Ships surely won't give up without a fight. As for Green Bay Preble, they will face off against Notre Dame Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tritons have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
