Preview: West Panthers vs. Weber Warriors

The West Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Weber Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.

Even though Viewmont scored an imposing 55 points, West still came out on top. West skirted past Viewmont 58-55. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 28 to 13 on the offensive boards, as West did.

West found their leader in underclassman Kylee Falatea, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sia Hall, who scored 7 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.

Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Weber had to settle for a 43-40 loss against Roy on Tuesday. Weber has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Weber saw an underclassman step up: Rylee Jugler dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Logyn Howell, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds.

West's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Weber, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

West was able to grind out a solid victory over Weber in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 47-39. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Weber's Katelynn Butler, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for West to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
