Baseball Recap: Fort Wayne Crusaders Takes a Loss

Fort Wayne Crusaders was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Indianapolis Kings. That's two games in a row now that Fort Wayne Crusaders has lost by just one run.

Tyler Schifferns was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Hudson Merica also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Fort Wayne Crusaders' defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Indianapolis Kings, their win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 10-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Wayne Crusaders will head out to face off against Tippecanoe Valley at 5:30 p.m. on May 5. As for Indianapolis Kings, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bethesda Christian at 6:30 p.m. on May 6.
