Basketball Game Preview: Kearney Bearcats vs. Westview Wolverines

The Kearney Bearcats will challenge the Westview Wolverines at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Westview is facing Kearney at the wrong time: Kearney suffered their first home loss of the season on Saturday and they're likely out for redemption. They lost 52-32 to the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Wildcats are ranked second).

Meanwhile, Westview came up short against Elkhorn South on Friday and fell 69-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (57), the Wolverines still had to take the loss.

Westview's loss dropped their record down to 19-3. As for Kearney, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-4.

Kearney skirted past Westview 71-69 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will Kearney repeat their success, or does Westview have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
