Football Game Preview: South Broward Bulldogs vs. Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs

The South Broward Bulldogs will face off against the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Things were looking good for South Broward after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 28-6 to Plantation. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even if they lost, South Broward's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Eddie Donnell, Paul Alce Jr., and Elijah Gant, who each picked up one sack apiece. South Broward got some further help from Donnell: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Cardinal Gibbons didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Coconut Creek on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 11-6 victory. The Chiefs haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Cardinal Gibbons now has a winning record of 2-1. As for South Broward, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. South Broward has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 155.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cardinal Gibbons struggles in that department as they've been averaging 169.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
