Baseball Game Preview: East Ascension Spartans vs. St. Michael Warriors

The East Ascension Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the St. Michael Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Michael took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on East Ascension, who comes in off a win.

East Ascension is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 16-3 margin over St. Martin's Episcopal on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Caden Gautreaux was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Truax, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, St. Michael suffered their closest loss since March 7, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of John Curtis Christian by a score of 4-2.

The win was the third in a row for East Ascension, bringing their record for this year to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs over those games. As for St. Michael, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.
