Basketball Game Preview: Marengo Indians vs. Harvest Christian Academy Lions

The Marengo Indians will venture away from home to face off against the Harvest Christian Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Marengo didn't have too much trouble with Johnsburg as they won 42-26. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Meanwhile, Harvest Christian Academy entered their tilt with Schaumburg Christian on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Conquerors 55-18. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 26 points or more this season.

Marengo better keep an eye on Daphne Brown. She was instrumental in Harvest Christian Academy's win, going 9 for 15 on her way to 19 points and five steals. Brown's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Burke, who posted nine points along with seven boards and four steals.

Harvest Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Schaumburg Christian only posted two assists.

Harvest Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points per game. As for Marengo, they pushed their record up to 14-11 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for Marengo against Harvest Christian Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2022, as the squad secured a 58-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marengo since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
