Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Bullard Knights

The Roosevelt Rough Riders will take on the Bullard Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Roosevelt knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Bullard likes a good challenge.

Roosevelt will head into Friday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 45) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sunnyside, sneaking past 67-65. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rough Riders have posted since January 20, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roosevelt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cobi Posas, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. Posas' evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Darreon Wheaton was another key player, putting up 13 points and three blocks.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bullard, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past Sanger 71-49 on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Roosevelt pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Bullard, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

Things could have been worse for Roosevelt, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-41 loss to Bullard in their previous meeting back in December of 2021.
