Softball Game Preview: Ellsworth Eagles vs. Mount Desert Island Trojans

The Ellsworth Eagles will face off against the Mount Desert Island Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Ellsworth knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Mount Desert Island likes a good challenge.

Ellsworth's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Foxcroft Academy as they made off with a 13-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Ponies: they've now won five in a row.

Ellsworth saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine Emerton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Brewer hit Mount Desert Island with a five-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans lost 14-7 to the Witches. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Witches: they've now lost five in a row.

Ellsworth's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Mount Desert Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Ellsworth skirted past Mount Desert Island 9-7 in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
