Basketball Recap: Denver Jewish Day Comes Up Short

Denver Jewish Day's last matchup with Front Range Baptist could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Denver Jewish Day Tigers came up short against the Front Range Baptist Falcons, falling 66-44. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-59 on February 10th.

When it comes to explaining why Denver Jewish Day lost, don't look at Solly Bielsky. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 36 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 81.8% of Denver Jewish Day's points, marking the third time in a row Bielsky has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Front Range Baptist had a senior duo take command as Benjamin VanDenBerghe went 8-for-14 to rack up 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals and Mark Sutton dropped a double-double with 16 points and 19 rebounds. VanDenBerghe's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Pierce, who shot 71% from the field on his way to 11 points.

Denver Jewish Day dropped their record down to 8-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Front Range Baptist, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-7.

As of now, neither Denver Jewish Day nor Front Range Baptist have any future games scheduled.
