Basketball Game Preview: Eads Eagles vs. Holly Wildcats

The Eads Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Holly Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eads has 12 straight wins, Holly has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Eads is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Kit Carson: they outscored them in every quarter. Eads put the hurt on Kit Carson with a sharp 52-28 victory on Friday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.

Eads found their leader in sophomore Anna Wollert, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Wollert has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last ten times she's played. Bailey Sierra was another key player, en route to 11 points and five rebounds.

Eads smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive games.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Tuesday. The matchup between Holly and Kit Carson didn't end well, with Holly falling 43-29.

Eads pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points over those games. As for Holly, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.

Eads strolled past Holly when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 49-35. Will Eads repeat their success, or does Holly have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
