Recap: Norland Vikings vs. Columbus Explorers
The Norland Vikings and the Columbus Explorers (ranked 15 and 67 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile match. Norland came out on top against Columbus by a score of 16-3 on Friday. The victory was just business as usual for Norland, who after eight games remain undefeated this season.
It was another big night for Ennio Yapoor, who threw for 375 yards while picking up 13.4 yards per attempt, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Isaiah Scott also helped out as he racked up 117 receiving yards.
Norland's win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-2 Booker T. Washington and 7-4 Jackson (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 57.8% over those games). As for Columbus, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2.
Norland will head out on the road to face off against North Miami Beach at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. North Miami Beach will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Norland is ranked fifth). As for Columbus, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Goleman at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
