Softball Recap: Sutter Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Sutter extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping them up to 6-0. They put the hurt on the Clear Lake Cardinals with a sharp 16-3 win. While the Huskies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Sutter gave Brooklyn Murphey the start and clearly made the right call: she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Murphey has posted since back in April of 2025. Ryleigh Lemenager relieved her and did a solid job, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Sutter got a massive performance out of Malaina Wilder, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Paytyn Schamanski was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Sutter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Clear Lake fell to 3-1. The loss was their first of the season.

On Clear Lake's side, Karsyn Greer made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was Greer's first of the season.

Sutter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 20-0 victory against El Camino on the 11th. As for Clear Lake, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-4 win against Willits on the 12th.
