Softball Recap: Jonathan Alder Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hilliard Bradley, Jonathan Alder was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They never let the Madison Plains Golden Eagles get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Jonathan Alder got a great performance from Taryn Miller as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Miller has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Owyn Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Kylie Petersheim was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Jonathan Alder kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Jonathan Alder's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Madison Plains, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Jonathan Alder wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 19-7 victory against Urbana on the 14th. As for Madison Plains, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-0 win against Catholic Central on the 15th.
