Softball Game Preview: Brookville Bees vs. Rustburg Red Devils

Brookville hasn't had much luck against Rustburg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Brookville will look to defend their home field against Rustburg at 7:00 p.m. This will be Brookville's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

Brookville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against William Campbell, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Brookville blew past William Campbell 15-4 on Wednesday. The matchup marked the Bees' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday Rustburg's undefeated season almost came to an end. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Alleghany a 2-0 shutout.

Not much got past Laila Bigham, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Alleghany off the board. Bigham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Rustburg pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Brookville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
