Softball Recap: North Has No Trouble Against Santa Maria

North never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past the Santa Maria Saints 17-0. The Stars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Mollie McKinley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Allison Jauregui was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two triples, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bayleigh Wood, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for North and bumps their season record up to 11-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Santa Maria, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: North beat Santa Maria by a score of 16-0 later that day.
