Basketball Game Preview: Central Catholic Buttons vs. Savio Eagles

The Central Catholic Buttons will square off against the Savio Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Central Catholic is headed into Friday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They lost 72-47 to TMI-Episcopal on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Savio was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 100-48 loss at the hands of Antonian Prep. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 948th, while the Apaches are ranked 27th).

Savio's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Central Catholic, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8.

Everything came up roses for Central Catholic against Savio in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, as the squad secured a 99-46 win. Does Central Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Savio turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
