Football Game Preview: Metamora Redbirds vs. Limestone Rockets

Metamora has gone a perfect 10-0 against Limestone recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Redbirds will host the Rockets at 7:30 p.m. Metamora knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Limestone likes a good challenge.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Metamora and Pekin, and Metamora kept the tradition alive. The Redbirds were the clear victors by a 37-13 margin over the Dragons on Friday. Considering the Redbirds have won three matchups by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Stephen Petri produced another solid performance rushing for 111 yards and three scores, while also picking up 39 receiving yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Jayson Pickles was in the mix as well, providing Metamora with one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Limestone had to suffer through a 48-8 loss at the hands of Morton. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 396th, while the Potters are ranked 119th).

Limestone's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Metamora, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Everything came up roses for Metamora against Limestone in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 43-0 victory. Will the Redbirds repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
