The Paxton Bobcats and the Jay Royals squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Paxton Bobcats had to settle for second. They took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royals. Paxton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Jay apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Saturday.
Loss or not, Paxton got some senior leadership from Collin Stewart and Noah Morgan. Stewart scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Morgan. scored ten points along with five rebounds. Stewart is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
Jay's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Skipper, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Skipper has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Mcdonald, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Paxton's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-6. As for Jay, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
Paxton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jay is on the road again on Tuesday and plays Chipley at 7:00 p.m. on February 20th. Chipley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Jay likes a good challenge.
