Softball Game Preview: Galway Golden Eagles vs. Schalmont Sabres

The Galway Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Schalmont Sabres at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

While Golden Eagles fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They blew past Albany 19-12 on Tuesday.

Emma Menge made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Samantha Becker was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Kiera Allen was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Schalmont put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Canajoharie as they made off with a 22-1 victory.
