Basketball Game Preview: Floyd Broncos vs. Gateway Christian Warriors

Floyd is 2-8 against Gateway Christian since February of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Floyd Broncos will challenge the Gateway Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m.

Floyd is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Dora on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Floyd was beaten by Dora 60-29. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Floyd had strong showings from David Melendez, who posted nine points, and Jimmy Lovato, who scored nine points. The dominant performance gave Lovato a new career-high in points.

Gateway Christian played against Lake Arthur on Wednesday and won via forfeit.

Gateway Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games. Floyd's loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Floyd was taken down by Gateway Christian 68-27 in their previous matchup last Tuesday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gateway Christian's Grady Munson, who went 10-for-15 to rack up 25 points along with seven assists and six steals.
