Softball Recap: Twin Valley Raiders vs. Octorara Area Braves
Twin Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 21-0 margin over the Octorara Area Braves.
Maggie Stoltzfus and Erin Cromwell made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Stoltzfus tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cromwell didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Furthermore, Stoltzfus didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. At bat, Stoltzfus scored three runs while going 1-for-3, while Cromwell got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI. What's more, Stoltzfus posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maggie Krall, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Weiler, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Twin Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Octorara Area only posted an OBP of .208.
Octorara Area's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.
Twin Valley has already played their next game, a 7-4 loss against Kutztown on the 14th. As for Octorara Area, they will take on Eastern Lebanon County at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
