Softball Recap: Torrey Pines Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

Torrey Pines won the last time they faced Rancho Buena Vista and things went their way on Thursday too. The Falcons came out on top against the Longhorns by a score of 5-1.

Riley Cullivan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Cullivan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rebecca Clayton, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Eva Gutierrez, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Torrey Pines has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Rancho Buena Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-10.

Torrey Pines didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-6 victory against Mission Vista on the 13th.
