Softball Recap: Scott City Wins Going Away Against Campbell

The Scott City Rams got the win against the Campbell Camels on Saturday by a conclusive 14-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Brianna Mills was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyvia Karrenbrock, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Marley Conklin was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Scott City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .515. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Scott City's win bumped their record up to 4-8-1. As for Campbell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Scott City is taking a road trip to face off against Senath-Hornersville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Campbell, they will take on Kennett at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Camels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 12.1 runs per game this season.
