Basketball Recap: Neosho Takes a Loss

Neosho was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Republic Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Tigers are ranked 15th).

Despite the defeat, Neosho saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zach Forsythe went 8-for-10 on his way to 17 points. The dominant performance also gave Forsythe a new career-high in assists (three). Kaiden Asberry was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Neosho's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Republic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-3.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats duke it out with the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Republic, they will challenge Joplin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
