Basketball Recap: Lafayette Drops Highest Score of Season Against Grafton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lafayette). They enjoyed a cozy 68-54 victory over the Grafton Clippers on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 64-42 back in January.

Lafayette was led to victory by Wayne Santos and Kordell London. Santos went 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points and six assists, while London went 6 of 13 to rack up 15 points and three steals. London has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Shamar Welsh was another key player, putting up nine points.

Lafayette smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Grafton still got an impressive performance from Jakobe Brownlee, who posted 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Waddy, who put up 12 points.

Lafayette pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. As for Grafton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.

Coincidentally, Lafayette and Grafton will both be playing Poquoson the next time they take the court. Grafton will head out to face Poquoson at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Lafayette will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
