Basketball Game Preview: Leyden Eagles vs. Downers Grove South Mustangs

Leyden is 1-9 against Downers Grove South since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Leyden Eagles will take on the Downers Grove South Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Leyden will be strutting in after a win while Downers Grove South will be coming in after a defeat.

Leyden is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since December 28, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Hinsdale South 47-45. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Downers Grove South came up short against Wheaton-Warrenville South on Monday and fell 54-44.

Leyden is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. As for Downers Grove South, their loss dropped their record down to 14-14.

Leyden came up short against Downers Grove South in their previous meeting back in January, falling 43-39. Can Leyden avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
