Baseball Game Preview: Simeon Wolverines vs. Kenwood Broncos

The Simeon Wolverines are taking a road trip to take on the Kenwood Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Simeon's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Saturday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Simeon came into this matchup off a tough 18-run loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Chicago Washington by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wolverines have suffered since May 3, 2024.

Jeremiah Henry was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only four hits, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Antwan Jackson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Ben Johnson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Kenwood might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Chicago Hope Academy who claimed the real prize. The Broncos fell just short of Chicago Hope Academy by a score of 5-3. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Simeon's loss dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for Kenwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3-1.

Simeon couldn't quite finish off Kenwood in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
