Volleyball Recap: Lynbrook Vikings vs. Wilcox Chargers

Lynbrook was the 3-0 winner over Wilcox when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Lynbrook Vikings fell just short of the Wilcox Chargers by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chargers 25-16 in the first set.

Lynbrook actually scored more points across those five sets (108-101), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 30-28, 15-25, 25-21, 15-9.

Wilcox found their leader in underclassman Sienna Spencer, who had 18 digs and two aces. Spencer is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last nine games she's played dating back to last season.

Lynbrook has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Wilcox, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.

After both having extra time off, Lynbrook and Fremont will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilcox has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Leland on the 5th.
