Recap: Barron Collier Cougars vs. Gateway Charter Griffins
After a string of five wins, the Barron Collier Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Gateway Charter by a score of 57-55. Barron Collier was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Gateway Charter apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gabe Markhart, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Spencer Clayton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Barron Collier's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-8. As for Gateway Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
