Volleyball Recap: Berkeley Gets Their First 'W'

The Berkeley Yellowjackets were able to grind out a solid win over the San Leandro Pirates on Tuesday, taking the game 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-10, 24-26, 25-19.

Liliana Sanger paced Berkeley's offense, picking up 14 kills. Sanger got some help from Rubi Silva and her 25 assists. Silva was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

San Leandro lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Skyla Martin, who had 13 digs, eight kills, and three aces. Alex Santos was another key player, getting 12 digs.

Berkeley's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for San Leandro, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Berkeley will take on Acalanes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Leandro, they will play host again on Thursday to welcome Oakland, where the match is scheduled at 6:00 p.m.
