Basketball Recap: First Assembly Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Bryce Sasser and Garrison Williams

First Assembly Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. The game between them and the Glen Iris Baptist Swordsmen didn't end well, with the First Assembly Christian Lions falling 48-31. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Swordsmen are ranked 87th).

Despite the loss, First Assembly Christian had strong showings from Garrison Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds, and Bryce Sasser, who posted 17 points. Sasser's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Glen Iris Baptist found their leader in sophomore Elliot Dickey, who put up 19 points and eight boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dickey has scored all season. Joshua Everett was another key player, putting up five points and five assists.

First Assembly Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Glen Iris Baptist, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Assembly Christian will take on Mt. Pleasant Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Glen Iris Baptist, they will square off against Trinity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Glen Iris Baptist is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season.
