Football Preview: Clyde Fliers vs. Perkins Pirates

The Clyde Fliers will head out to take on the Perkins Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Clyde is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Port Clinton 56-21 at home. The Fliers pushed the score to 42-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Redskins had little chance of recovering from.

Brennan Wilson had a dynamite game for Clyde, throwing for 197 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also rushing for 60 yards and a touchdown. That's the most rushing yards Wilson has posted since back in September of 2023. Kam Shortridge made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Clyde's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. Shortridge picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Perkins put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Bellevue a 43-0 shutout. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Redmen are ranked 299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clyde's record now sits at 4-1. As for Perkins, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
