Basketball Game Preview: Valley Center Jaguars vs. Rancho Bernardo Broncos

The Valley Center Jaguars will take on the Rancho Bernardo Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Valley Center is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Escondido: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Valley Center blew Escondido out of the water with a 73-44 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Jaguars had established a 28 point advantage.

Lincoln Zetmeir continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10 for 19 en route to 28 points in addition to five assists and four steals. That makes it 21 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Valley Center's points. Mitchell Stehly was another key player, going 8 of 11 on his way to 17 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Rancho Bernardo entered their tilt with San Pasqual on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Golden Eagles, posting a 60-31 victory. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 450th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 1233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Valley Center better keep an eye on Cyrus Sadri-Ahwazi. He was instrumental in Rancho Bernardo's win, putting up 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Palmer, who posted nine points.

Rancho Bernardo pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Valley Center, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-14.
