The Falcons will host the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Oakcrest's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Pleasantville 27-0. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Dakota Miranda made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Oakcrest let Trinity Brown and Emilee Richards run wild. Brown scored five runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Richards went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Richards has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chrystal Williams, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one triple.
Oakcrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .698. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Atlantic City). They put the hurt on Bridgeton with a sharp 19-2 win on Wednesday.
Kayla Barrie was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Barrie was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nelly Sosa, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Mia Marota was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Atlantic City's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Oakcrest, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
