League recap: Coward breaks off league-leading run for Niceville

7A District 1 recap September 4, 2013

Niceville's Shi'Kim Coward recorded the longest rushing play in 7A District 1 this season in his game against Rutherford last week. Coward scampered for 57 yards on the play and finished with 204 on the day as his team beat the Rams.

Crestview scaled the state rankings by moving to 79 from 105 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs were able to make move up by besting Milton 14-13.

Ashton Hooker and Coward gave Niceville a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Hooker also contributed to the rushing game with 77 yards on the ground.

Hooker and Coward gave John Hicks' team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week.

Hooker put up the best numbers through the air as the Eagles defeated Rutherford. He finished with 14 completions for 193 yards. Hooker's favorite target this week was Tayjon Culley, who caught 2 passes for 69 yards.

Stephen Penderson was the best wideout in the league this week as Tate lost to West Florida. Penderson tallied 4 receptions for 65 yards. Lavontia Samuel helped Tate's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 20 yards.

Coward was the best running back in 7A District 1 this week.

Crestview and the Panthers played the closest game in the league this week, with Crestview eventually emerging with a 14-13 victory.
