Softball Recap: Marbury Finds Home Field Redemption Against Chilton County

There's no place like home for Marbury, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chilton County Tigers on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted against the Tigers since March 16, 2022.

Elizabeth Woodfin made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Woodfin wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sara Roeten, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Marbury is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-16 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Chilton County, their record is now 29-8-2.

Coming up, Marbury will take on Brewbaker Tech at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. Chilton County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
