Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Payson). They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Provo Bulldogs on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Aydrie Christensen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Paisley Beckstead was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jaylee Judd was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-2.
The win made it two in a row for Payson and bumps their season record up to 9-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-9 Provo and 4-7 Mountain View. As for Provo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Payson and Provo will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time Payson sees the field they'll take on Orem at 3:30 p.m. on April 8. As for Provo, their break will end when they face Mountain View at 3:30 p.m. on April 8.
