Baseball Recap: Stadium Takes a Loss

Stadium extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-10. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Creek Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered since March 26th.

Ethan West was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

As for North Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

On North Creek's side, Wyatt McKinney looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, McKinney posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, North Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston McDonnell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Coming up, Stadium will be playing in front of their home fans against Auburn at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for North Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Lake Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Kangaroos' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
