Softball Recap: Garrett Comes Up Short

Garrett lost against Heritage back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Railroaders fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 6-5.

Ashlee Vanderbosch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Garrett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayiden Feicht, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Sarah DePew was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Garrett's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Garrett has already played their next contest, a 17-2 win against Fremont on the 13th. As for Heritage, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-1 defeat against Jay County on the 15th.
