Basketball Recap: Springfield Millers vs. Churchill Lancers

Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Churchill Lancers and fell 64-36. The Millers lost against the Lancers in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 47-41 score last time.

Churchill found their leader in freshman Luke Read, who went 7 of 14 en route to 17 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Read has scored all season. Jace Litten was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points.

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Churchill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield has already played their next contest (against Eagle Point), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Churchill will welcome Summit at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Summit knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Churchill likes a good challenge.
