Crown Point has gone a perfect 10-0 against Portage recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Portage took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Crown Point, who comes in off a win.
On Thursday, Crown Point made easy work of Valparaiso and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won eight in a row.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Crown Point was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-9, 25-11.
Crown Point's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cailin Duncan, who had six aces and four digs. That's the most aces Duncan has posted since back in August of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Del Real, who had 13 digs and two aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Crown Point was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Portage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to Chesterton.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-13, 25-18.
Crown Point's win bumped their record up to 24-3. As for Portage, their loss dropped their record down to 11-17.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Crown Point hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.8 blocks per game. It's a different story for Portage, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 blocks. Given Crown Point's sizable advantage in that area, the Indians will need to find a way to close that gap.
Crown Point took their victory against Portage when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
