Basketball Game Preview: Kettering Captains vs. South Lyon East Cougars

Kettering hasn't had much luck against South Lyon East recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Kettering Captains will face off against the South Lyon East Cougars at 7:00 p.m. South Lyon East took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Kettering, who comes in off a win.

While Kettering didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 41-22 win over Farmington on Friday. Given the Captains' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Falcons are ranked 524th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when South Lyon East challenged South Lyon on Friday. South Lyon East was dealt a 56-26 defeat at the hands of South Lyon. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

South Lyon East has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Kettering, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Kettering was taken down by South Lyon East 59-29 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Kettering avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
