Volleyball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Great Oak last Thursday, Chaparral came back down to earth. The Pumas took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Nighthawks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-0 loss back in September.

Chaparral was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Murrieta Valley work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 26-24, 17-25, 25-15.

When it comes to explaining why Chaparral lost, don't look at Shay Roddy. Despite the final result, she had 22 digs and three aces. Roddy is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.

Murrieta Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maya Casey out in front who had 14 digs and one assist. Another player making a difference was Capri Ratcliffe, who had 14 assists and six digs.

Chaparral has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Murrieta Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.

Chaparral didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Vista Murrieta on the 9th. As for Murrieta Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Temecula Valley on the 9th.
