Baseball Game Preview: Ithaca Yellowjackets vs. Hemlock Huskies

Ithaca is 0-7-1 against Hemlock since May of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will head out on the road to take on the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Ithaca has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ithaca is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Michigan Lutheran Seminary, falling 15-7. On the bright side, the seven- run effort marked the Yellowjackets' highest-scoring game to date.

Carsen Shankel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season.

Meanwhile, while Hemlock put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Nouvel Catholic Central. The Huskies put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 18-0 victory. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Ithaca's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Hemlock, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Ithaca couldn't quite get it done against Hemlock in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 8-4. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
