Baseball Recap: Western Boone Gets the Win

While Western Boone's win against Southmont wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Stars skirted past the Mounties 5-4. The Stars haven't had any issues with the Mounties recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Quinn Westerfeld made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Westerfeld wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Hawkins, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run. Layton Yancey was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Western Boone's win bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Southmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.

Western Boone will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mounties: the pair will be back at it again later today.
