Softball Game Preview: Pioneer Patriots vs. East Union Lancers

The Pioneer Patriots will challenge the East Union Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pioneer is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Pioneer is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Beyer get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory.

The result came thanks to Jia Beebe's shutout, as she gave up just three hits.

At the plate, Marisa Bryson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Abril Parker was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Pioneer hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, East Union posted their closest win since April 3rd on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Yuba City, sneaking past 9-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Pioneer pushed their record up to 22-5 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for East Union, their victory bumped their record up to 17-13.

Pioneer suffered a grim 17-3 defeat to East Union in their previous meeting back in May of 2015. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
