Elba hasn't had much luck against Oakfield-Alabama recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lancers will be playing at home against the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Elba barely beat Barker the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lancers put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 14-4 victory on Friday.
Nicholas Scott was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Scott was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Bing Zuber was a standout: he scored three runs and stole six bases while going 5-for-5. Brayden Jachimowicz was another key player, scoring a run and stealing six bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Elba always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Barker only posted an OBP of .107.
Meanwhile, Oakfield-Alabama owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They blew past Webber 9-0. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Like Elba, Oakfield-Alabama also got a great game from a two-way player: David Schnaufer. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Schnaufer has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Avery Watterson was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
Elba came up short against Oakfield-Alabama in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 13-9. Will the Lancers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
