Basketball Recap: Wawasee Warriors vs. Fairfield Falcons
The Wawasee Warriors and the Fairfield Falcons squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Wawasee Warriors had to settle for second. They fell to the Falcons 40-34. Wawasee has not had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Wawasee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Couture, who scored six points along with four steals and two blocks. Couture continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lucy Wilkinson, who scored ten points.
Wawasee has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season. As for Fairfield, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 22-3.
Wawasee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fairfield won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (NorthWood is ranked 67th, while the Falcons are ranked 59th).
